We immediately fell in love with this lotion the moment it hit our skin. The anti-aging properties of rosehip seed oil make your skin look and feel awesome immediately. Since rose hip is a dry oil (easily absorbed), it does not leave a sticky or greasy residue either. This recipe is super easy and makes a great final product. Give it a try and let us know how you like it!

Recipe Yield: 16 oz.

Time: 30 minutes

Materials:

Melting Pot - to heat oils

Measuring Cup - for water/borax

Scale

Mini Mixer or Electric Mixer

2 Spoons

Heat source

Ingredients:

4.25 oz. Rosehip Seed Oil

1 oz. Beeswax (we used white)

.5 oz. Emulsifying Wax

-----------------------------------------

9.5 oz. Distilled Water or Rose Hydrosol

1 tsp. Borax

-----------------------------------------

.3 oz. Fresh Cut Roses Fragrance Oil (may be omitted if using rose hydrosol)

1 tsp. Optiphen Preservative

Now for the fun part!

Instructions:

Step 1

Gather materials, sterilize all equipment and work area

Step 2

Measure and heat rosehip seed oil, beeswax and emulsifying wax until melted - about 150 to 160 degrees.

Step 3

In a separate measuring cup, weigh water (or hydrosol) and stir in borax until completely dissolved.

Step 4

Add water solution to melted oils and mix until all ingredients blend and there is no water or oil separation. Using a mini mixer or electric mixer makes this process faster and easier. Be care of over mixing because it makes a very light, airy lotion that takes a few days to settle.

Step 5

Allow lotion to cool to 120 degrees F or less and add Fragrance Oil (if desired) and Optiphen preservative and blend well. Lotion will thicken upon cooling and will take up to 24 hours to thicken completely.5

Step 6

Fill your bottles, cap and enjoy!
