SUPPLIES NEEDED: (3) 3” x 4” Square Molds (3) Tealight Plugs (3) Tealight Cups (3) Tealight Wicks Mold Release Spray Scent 3 lbs. Pillar Wax (we used IGI 6028) Glue Gun or Glue Dots Candle Coloring (your choice of color) Artificial Flowers Disposable Plate (for paint) 2” Letter Stencil Sheet Acrylic Paint for MOM letters Acrylic Paint for Flowers medium & light green (stems) blue, light blue & yellow (petals) Fine Paint Brush Medium Paint Brush Metal Decorative Tray (for finished candle) STEP 1: Attach the tealight plugs to the pillar molds. The plugs are inserted on the inside of the molds with the bolt threading through the wick hole. Tighten the small nut to secure the plug to the bottom of the mold. Spray the pillar molds and the tealight plugs with mold release spray.
STEP 2: Heat the wax to at least 180 degrees or until completely melted and then add the scent and coloring. Drop the temperature to 180 degrees and then pour into the molds.
STEP 3: Attach the wicks to the tealight cups with the glue gun or the glue dots. Pour the wax into the tealight cups and let set. You can use the same color as the pillar candles or you can change the color to add some contrast if you like.
STEP 4: After the pillars have completely cooled, you can remove them from the molds.
STEP 5: Choose the color paint that you would like for your MOM lettering. Apply a small amount of acrylic paint to the paper plate. Align the letter stencils on your candles and secure with a few pieces of masking tape. Brush the paint into the letters MOM on your candles and let completely dry. Remove stencil outline to paint the flowers.
STEP 6: Choose a color and the location on each of your letters to paint your flowers. Dab your brush into the paint and make four circles for the petals touching each other but not overlapping too much. Repeat this process on all of your candles and let dry. Paint a small stem on two of the sides of the flower petals by dipping the medium brush in each color green. Add some small leaves if you choose and have space. Repeat this process on all of your candles and let dry. Use a fine brush to paint the V’s on each of the petals. Use the medium brush to apply one dot of color in the middle of each flower to create the center. Repeat for all flowers and let dry.
STEP 7: After the painted letters and flowers have dried on place the candles on the metal decorative tray. Scatter the flowers around the candles and insert the tealight candles into the top holes in the pillars.
